This month our featured book is

It is a about a girl who just likes to make noise. It really highlights how the ADHD brain works because she is unable to control her urges to make noise until she is hyper focused on something like reading.

I also find it interesting that she doesn't have a name. People with ADHD have a hard time remembering names and whether or not it is intentional but the author it is an interesting detail.

I think the most important takeaway from the book is how others in her life treat her because she can't "be quiet" and how that affects her self esteem.
We chose this book for Nixon because as a child with ADHD, Nixon has a tough time being quiet. We had Nixon read the book and answer some questions for us about it.

Would the book make a cool movie? Video game? TV show?

Nixon: I don't think it would make a good game but maybe a movie.

I Don't Want to Be Quiet Book

What do you think the author wants readers to remember most from this book?

It is okay to make lots of noise but it is also nice to hear the sounds around you
I Don't Want To Be Quiet Book

What do you wish was different about the ending?

I wish the other kids would join in on making noise instead of telling her to be quiet
