Where did the summer go? Those lazy, hazy days seem to fly by in a blur of sunshine, sunscreen, backyard adventures and fun. But the new school year is here and it can still be a fun and exciting time. We've compiled our top five tips to make back to school a little easier.
.

Re-establish routine

Establishing a consistent routine is important for kids. Write out the steps in your routine and rehearse them with your child. In the evening, this could include doing homework, playtime, brushing their teeth, having a bath, and reading before bed.
.

Address Nervous Feelings

.
COVID has and will likely continue to have an impact on schools, not to mention the usual back to school worries! Validate the nerves and set a positive tone. Start a conversation about these feelings early, and continue to check in with them through the year. Staying connected to your kids will help ease potential fear and anxieties, as well as prepare them to adapt more easily should any changes occur.
.

Make lunch together

.
Involving your kiddos in packing their lunches is a great way to empower them and helps reduce the amount of food that comes home (likely mushed and beyond saving!) Involve them in the planning, shopping, and actual preparing of their lunch. Let them pick healthy options likes fruits and veggies that look good to them. A P+M favourite? Check out Welo
.

Get ready to your favourite playlist

.
It can be hard to get the kiddos out of bed after a summer of sleeping in! Get ready to your favourite P+M playlist to have the whole family awake and smiling before you head out the door!
.

Pick out outfits the night before

.
Mornings are hectic enough without discovering that half of what your kiddos wanted to wear is still in the laundry! If your kids are old enough, have them pick out their clothes for the next day the night before. (May we suggest P+M Joggers and Hoodie?) Alternatively, lay out two options and then let your kiddo choose the morning of. This gives them choice while simplifying your morning!
